On the other hand, it&#8217;s usually fried.<\/p>\n<p>So here is my very yummy, non-fried, healthy, 0 points on the new Weight Watchers Plan Falafel!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>Pound<\/td>\n<td>Dried Chickpeas\/Garbanzos\/Cici Beans<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>Small (or 1\/4 Large)<\/td>\n<td>Yellow Onion<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1\/2<\/td>\n<td>Bunch<\/td>\n<td>Parsley<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>4<\/td>\n<td>Cloves<\/td>\n<td>Garlic<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1 1\/2<\/td>\n<td>Tablespoons<\/td>\n<td>All-Purpose Flour<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1 3\/4<\/td>\n<td>Teaspoons<\/td>\n<td>Kosher Salt<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>2<\/td>\n<td>Teaspoons<\/td>\n<td>Cumin Seeds<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>Teaspoon<\/td>\n<td>Coriander Seeds<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1\/4<\/td>\n<td>Teaspoon<\/td>\n<td>Black Peppercorns<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1\/4<\/td>\n<td>Teaspoon<\/td>\n<td>Ground Red Pepper (optional)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>pinch<\/td>\n<td>Cardamom seeds (or ground)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>Tablespoontd&gt;<\/td>\n<td>Olive Oil<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>Equipment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><\/td>\n<td>Food Processor<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><\/td>\n<td>Spice Grinder or Mortar and Pestle<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>Baking Steel<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<td>Convection Oven<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h5><strong>The day before cooking:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Put the dried beans in a large bowl or pot and cover with at least 4&#8243; of water. Leave 12-24 hours<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Cooking day:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Set the oven to &#8220;convection&#8221; and preheat the oven and the baking steel to 500\u00b0F<\/li>\n<li>Put all the dried spices into a spice grinder or mortar and pestle and grind to a powder.<\/li>\n<li>Put the salt, the ground up spices, garlic, onion and beans into the food processor and pulse with the chopping blade (looks like a curved lawnmower blade) until the chunks are about the same size as dried couscous.<\/li>\n<li>Add the flour and all the parsley and pulse until the parsley is chopped up. Don&#8217;t process too much or the falafel will be mushy.<\/li>\n<li>Take a ping-pong ball sized chunk of\u00a0 falafel mixture and form into a ball then flatten between your palms to form a &#8220;flying saucer&#8221; shape.\u00a0Place on the baking<br \/>\nsteel and flatten with your hand slightly.<\/li>\n<li>Repeat until the mixture is gone or you have enough falafels.<\/li>\n<li>Lightly brush the tops with a little olive oil.<\/li>\n<li>Cook until the bottom and top of the Falafel is golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Serve immediately with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bupkis.org\/index.php\/recipes-2\/sauces\/cucumber-yogurt-sauce\">Cucumber-Yogurt Sauce<\/a> and chopped tomatoes and thinly sliced onions in a half-pita<\/li>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t use all of it, save the uncooked mixture and use the next day. Don&#8217;t cook extra balls and reheat, since they&#8217;re <em>much<\/em> better freshly cooked than reheated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Lately I&#8217;ve decided to downsize.
